Ballet folkórico
Ballet Folklórico as a Cultural Outlet
I began to dance ballet folkórico at 6 years old, which began as an after school activity and quickly grew to become one of the most defining roles in living my heritage.
Most recently, as an undergraduate I have been able to showcase and express my Mexican heritage by helping start the Carnegie Mellon Ballet Folkórico group and performing annually at the Carnegie Mellon Noche Latina hosted by the Spanish And Latin Student Association, SALSA.
I hope to continue to be a part of ballet folklórico wherever life takes me. Through ballet folklórico I hope to allow others to understand our distinct identities and customs while embracing our heritage through the practice and performance of our dance.
